Import members from a CSV
Preview a member CSV, resolve errors and create valid new members without altering existing records.
Who this is for: Owners and Admins importing member records.
Help when this task is blocked
Before you start
Owners and Admins can import. Import is create-only: it does not merge, update existing members or assign Attendance Groups. Blank optional fields use the documented defaults.
Steps
- Open Members → Import members. Select your file using CSV file.
- Read Ready to import, Existing — skipped and Needs correction. Use Show import rows to inspect each category; review Ignored columns separately.
- Download the corrections file if offered. Correct the source file and select it again when needed.
- Choose Import Valid Rows to save only ready new rows, or Cancel to leave without saving.
- Review the imported, existing-skipped and invalid counts. Use Back to members to return.
Expected result
Only valid new members are created; existing members remain unchanged.
If you cannot finish
The CSV header or nickname is wrong
Username/Nickname is the required header. Existing nicknames match ignoring case and surrounding spaces.
A new nickname appears more than once
Every repeated new nickname needs correction; do not choose a winning row.
The file is too large or invalid
Use UTF-8 CSV within 4 MiB and 5,000 nonempty rows. Notes are limited to 5,000 characters.
Example: understand this in practice
A fictional CSV contains Jordan, who already exists, and a new member, Priya. Jordan is skipped; only Priya’s valid new row is created.
Names and situations are fictional.
